Happy fucking new year from me and the missus

Guest post from my wife: (yeah, you tell 'em baby!)

So I’m feeling totally discouraged today. Fuck the new year and everyone’s silly resolutions that don’t mean shit. Today is just another reason to overspend and get shit faced. Tomorrow isn’t going to bring any real change. People don’t want real change. They don’t even want to look at the reasons why change is inevitable. They’re like big kids covering their ears and singing “la la la la la la, I can’t hear you!” Ya, because ignoring what’s right in front of your face is going to help you. Thanks- for your part in fucking up the world. Way to go loser.

Alright, let’s try this again…

Happy frickin’ new year. I don’t have anything good to say. I applaud those who are able to get shit faced and pretend that it’s all a bad dream. All reality all the time can get a little heavy.

Okay, I’ve got nothing. I’ll try again in the new year.

  2. Now the name Muddome did have me wondering if that was what it meant. Because I seen a couple articles on building like this. I have been scoping a couple of different alternative ways of building,I really liked the firewood size log and mortar method stackwall is one name.I will have to look in to this too.

  3. Thanks China. Happy New Year to you too. I looked at a lot of alternative building methods and finally settled on earthbags. A really good choice for me anyways. I recently provided a guest post on MD Creekmore's site and a lot of our stuff can be seen on my wife's blog at canadiandirtbags. There's tons about earthbags on the internet. If you have any questions I'd be pleased to provide any info I have.

  4. Wow after returning home this afternoon I did a lot of reading and watching vids on earthbag construction. One question, is ball park price of bags? And also waterproofing in really wet or humid areas seems to be a problem? Indiana is both! However I assume if one did a traditional overhang roof instead of full on dome a lot of that could be solved? Cement stucco seems best for here with an overhang.

  7. China,
We paid 20 cents per bag and they came in bales of 1000. Our home will probably require about 2500 bags for a cost of $500. The bags were misprints originally intended for shipping grain to the middle east for some prince's horse. Apparently not good enough to hold the food for some rich assholes animal, but just perfect for me to build a wonderful home. You could easily put a roof on instead of finishing the dome. This type of construction offers endless possibilities. We plan on using a clay and lime plaster for our finish plaster. Should do quite well with the moisture.

    Mayberry,
I used to hate the holiday season. Now it's a great reminder of the ever increasing gap between myself and the masses. As the distance between myself and the meat robots increases, I know I am on the right path, doing the right thing.
There is a button on the toolbar when posting that has a line through ABC that is for strikethrough text.

    Trash,
Yeah, my wife's an awesome writer. She makes me laugh, makes me ponder. I've dumped the google adsense on my blog so I don't have to censor my language anymore. !!! Fuck You Google Adsense !!!

  9. Hey Bro I am right there with you on the whole New Years thing. What a crock of crap. Just another reason for the sheeple to have another payed day off and not have to work for it. They all still think life will be going on as it always has. When the pull their head out of their ass and wipe off their eyes it will be to late. But don't they make an iphone app for that anyway?? lol Keep up the good work.

  10. Badvoodoo,
"But don't they make an iphone app for that anyway??" That's funny and yet pathetic at the same time. The 75 million people playing farmville on facebook will be the first to starve when this thing collapses.

  11. ROFLMAO I wrote a post like that yesterday. Then I deleted it, wrote another one, deleted it. It was right after a bunch of people complained to me that they didn't know where to put all the stuff they got/bought at Christmas. I said, "Then you bought too much. Why did you buy it or ask for it if you didn't need it?" I guess I was speaking Martian, though, based on the looks I got.

    75 million people play Farmville?

We want to build a strawbale house, which is a similar idea to sandbags. We just need some land!

  12. Canadian Doomer,
Check out my wife's blog at www.canadiandirtbags.com. She put up a post about mortgage free land. A friend of ours has happily lived this way his entire adult life. You may be closer to the dream than you think...
